Gunmen enter home and shoot dog, steal nothing - Peoria Journal Star

Gunmen who broke into a South Peoria home and shot a dog there late Wednesday fled without stealing anything.

About 11:20 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to a report of armed suspects entering the home at 2306 W. Garden St.

An officer found a 4-year-old pit bull with two wounds to the shoulder, possibly only graze wounds, a police report said.

Another officer stopped two men who were running at Westmoreland Avenue and Garden before learning they were residents running from the home invasion, police said.

A woman said she was asleep when she heard the front door open and four shots fired, the report said. She told police she went to her bedroom door and saw two males with guns.

She tried to shut the door, but one of the gunmen pushed the door into her, she said. One pointed a handgun at her and said if she didn't give him money, she would be shot in the head. Another male came into the room and began looking around, she told police. When she told them all she had was a pacemaker, they fled.

The woman told police two of the invaders appeared to be in their teens and had bandanas over their faces, but she didn't get a good look at a third male who apparently was involved.

The pit bull was moving around fine despite the gunshots, and the woman said she would take the dog to the vet the next day, the report said.

Lights, camera, action for Cumberland home - Abbotsford News

Posted: 24 Sep 2009 06:10 PM PDT

Cumberland will be showcased to the world Wednesday in an episode of House Hunters International, which was filmed in the area last year.

The Home and Garden Television show, which globetrots around the world showcasing homes from Italy to the Cayman Islands, filmed local residents Derrick and Shannon Nelson, who purchased their first home in the Ulverston Station subdivision last year.

According to real estate agent Karin Usipuik, who participated in the filming of the show, the episode is scheduled to air Sept. 30 at 7:30 p.m.

"I'm really excited ... it was really fun, and I would definitely do it again," she said.

"This is really great for the Comox Valley."

The production took five days, as one day was spent filming a variety of locations in the Valley for establishing shots.

Usipuik admits she has not seen any part of the episode which aired in the U.S. last Sunday.

"There definitely is going to be a viewing party," she added.
