A mainstay during the Great Folk Scare of the 1960s – hasnÂ't performed in the Twin Cities for at least two decades. Rush, 68, emerged first as a credible, crafty Harvard bluesman, recording cult hit LPs while still in school studying English Lit. With a casual, conversational baritone delivery that's proven timeless, he introduced several seminal songwriters to the public at large, recording gems by James Taylor ("Something In the Way She Moves"), Joni Mitchell ("The Circle Game," "Urge For Going") and Jackson Browne ("These Days") before they landed their own record deals. Though never a driven careerist, and for nearly two decades living far from any hustle and bustle in Wyoming, Rush still continued to pack clubs and concert halls on the East Coast but he stayed out of recording studios for 35 years, until the February release of "What I Know," featuring some mighty cool back-up singers -- Bonnie Bramlett, Emmylou Harris and Nanci Griffith. His career also got an unlikely jolt when "The Remember Song," a wryly hilarious little ditty about aging, became a YouTube sensation. "It's a marvelous thing," Rush says. "It's reminded a lot of lapsed fans that I'm still out there, still performing, traveling, doing good shows. And it's no doubt made me a few new partisans, though I'm sure 95 percent of the people don't know or care who the guy is that's singing. They just like the funny song, and e-mail it to their friends." The medium may have changed, but Rush remains a great conduit for superior songs -- many moving, some salty, a few, and all featuring crafty guitar licks. Some are self-penned, most notably the oft-covered "No Regrets," which U2 has featured in recent sets. Few people deliver a memorable lyric better than Rush. Police discover indoor pot garden - Charleston Daily Mail Posted: 06 Oct 2009 06:32 PM PDT Authorities found an indoor marijuana garden, complete with heat lamps and an irrigation system, at a home in St. Albans. St. Albans police officers and Kanawha County sheriff's deputies had just served an arrest warrant at a home in the 800 block of 7th Avenue early Monday morning when they got a tip about marijuana being grown in the home, according to a press release from St. Albans Lt. James Agee. Jake Alden, 23, had been arrested on a robbery charge, Agee said. Police then got a search warrant for Alden's home and found 15 marijuana plants growing in buckets inside a locked room, the press release said. "The grow operation had been wired with heat lamps, fans, timers and a watering system," Agee said. Alden now will be charged in connection with cultivating marijuana, police said. Also arrested and charged were his mother, Debbie Alden, 53, and her fiance, Donal McDaniel, 39. All three live together in the home, Agee said. They are scheduled to be arraigned in Kanawha County Magistrate Court.
